Continuing Education Opportunity

On April 3, 2012, a unique opportunity will be offered to the wastewater and drinking water operator community. The Division of Compliance Assistance’s Operator Certification Program will be hosting a continuing education class with experts in their respective fields of study to discuss alternative disinfection techniques. Paul Mahoney, of Parkson Co., will be discussing the MIOX process; Gary Crabtree, of Gatterdam Industrial Services, will be discussing ozonization; and Keith Thompson, president of the Gas Chlorine Education Committee, will be speaking about chlorine. There will also be a speaker from Southern Sales Inc., of Nashville, to discuss ultraviolet light.

On the second day of the training, we will be discussing innovative and alternative treatment techniques for both wastewater and drinking water. These will include membranes filtration, sequential batch reactors (SBRs), biological nutrient removal and trenchless technologies.
