EPA Resources for Disaster Relief

In the wake of the tornado and storm destruction, some wastewater and drinking water facilities in the state may be struggling to finance relief efforts. If you are a member of one of these facilities, we have discovered more information from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) that may help you financially. The following brochure outlines public assistance for water and wastewater utilities in emergencies and disasters. In addition to specific details about FEMA funding, this publication also outlines eligible work, eligible reimbursements and applying for funds through the Public Assistance Grant process.

Additionally, the EPA has published an article on reimbursement tips for water sector emergency response and recovery. This publication outlines the steps your facility should take to properly document labor costs, material purchases and equipment usage times for maximum reimbursement. Hopefully, these resources will help your facility financially respond to the disaster as efficiently and effectively as possible.
