The Regional Water Resource Agency (RWRA), a municipal wastewater utility located in Owensboro, Ky., is accepting resumes for the Director of Operations position. This position is primarily responsible for the supervision of day-to-day activities of the Operations Department, to include the Field, Plant, Contractual Services, and Maintenance divisions, which includes 50-plus employees, as well as the direct supervision of the Operations Administration staff. This position is responsible for the preparation and oversight of the budgets of these divisions, as well as the overall safety of each. Other responsibilities include ensuring environmental regulatory compliance and providing data to regulatory authorities, customer service functions of the Operations Department, investigating new technologies in wastewater processes, preparing specifications for procurement, fleet maintenance inventory and preventative maintenance work orders, and development and implementation of operations manuals.
This full-time, exempt position requires an associate’s degree or equivalent post-secondary education in a management, construction, or engineering related field and a minimum of four years of management experience, or a combination of education and experience. Environmental operation, regulatory compliance, along with an understanding of wastewater treatment plant operation and underground pipe installation and/or maintenance is preferred. Ability to proficiently use various computer applications, such as Microsoft Office, Internet and Email is required. Class IV Wastewater Operator and Collection System licenses are highly preferred, or at least to be obtained within the first five years of employment. A valid driver’s license prior to employment is required.
