The Division of Compliance Assistance, Certification and Licensing Branch has partnered with several industry leaders to bring a fuller spectrum of training to the continuing education classes. Not only do you get the classroom style instruction the DCA typically offers, but also interactive discussions, new technological information from manufacturers, hands on demonstrations and other interesting surprises such as operators giving testimonials about technology and other issues. As the regulations become more stringent and the demand for new and improved processes and infrastructure increase, getting the most out of continuing education is a must. We can form networks to help each other with compliance issues, upgrading systems, working together to make trenchless technologies an available technology in Kentucky, and the importance of Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition (SCADA) and other advances. Learning can and should be fun.
In this class we discussed the importance of using the microscope, SVI and calculating sludge age. We also did jar testing and discussed the importance of process control. We looked at pumps on Mayfield’s SCADA system in real time. We discussed the issues with treating pharmaceuticals and the impact that they have on our water. Below is a link to a video with samples from a few of the presenters from the last treatment techniques course. If you missed treatment techniques this time around, don’t worry. We will have this class again in the next few months.
