The Kentucky Board of Certification of Water Treatment and Distribution System Operators is seeking applicants for three board member terms set to expire Aug. 31, 2013.
The Kentucky Board of Certification of Water Treatment and Distribution System Operators serves in an advisory capacity to the cabinet on all aspects of drinking water operator training and certification. The Department for Environmental Protection’s Division of Compliance Assistance is responsible for providing the administrative support to this board.
The board consists of five members. KRS 223-170, the board’s authorizing statute, requires that the board be composed of individuals with professional backgrounds as follows: two members who are currently employed as waterworks operators holding valid certificates; one member employed by a municipality who holds the position of either city manager, city engineer, director of public works or the equivalent thereof; one member who is a faculty member of a college, university or professional school whose major field is related to water supply; and one ex officio member representing the Environmental and Public Protection Cabinet. The cabinet secretary makes appointments to the board and board members shall serve a four-year term.
Board members shall serve without compensation, but may be reimbursed for all actual and necessary expenses incurred while discharging their official duties.
