Continuing Education Opportunity – GIS and Cross Connections

Cross Connection Trg Pic May 2014Two hot topics in the water industry are GIS and cross connections. The Division of Compliance Assistance and the Operator Training Committee of Ohio, Inc. are teaming up to provide a hands-on approach to these techniques. The training dates are June 12-13 at London WWTP Training Center,300 Lagoon Trail, London, KY 40744.

Techniques in training the proper installation and repair of backflow preventers and other backflow control will be demonstrated. Operators will get a chance to assemble and disassemble, as well as receive classroom instruction on cross control connection devices. Plotting GIS points, the importance of GIS and turning them into maps will be a part of the GIS hands-on demonstration. Operators will get a chance toGIS Trg Pic May 2014 plot points to see how accurately they can detect GPS points. This will be a great experience for those looking to implement these technologies as well as those who may already be using the technology and need some additional training. There will also be a team competition for the group that most accurately finds points in a challenge, which is a good way of testing what you have learned in the training. The class size will be limited to 40 participants so that everyone will get ample time with the hands-on experience.
