The Kentucky Department for Environmental Protection’s facilities located at 200 (DAQ, DWM and DOW) and 300 Fair Oaks Lane (DENF, DCA, DEPS and Commissioner’s Office), in Frankfort, Ky., will be in the middle of several construction projects this summer. The Transportation Cabinet currently is replacing the concrete road service on Wilkinson Boulevard. This is the main road you will use when visiting one of our facilities. The four-lane road has been reduced to a single lane in each direction with a speed limit of 25 m.p.h. Please drive slowly and be cautious of the workers in the area. On June 2, 2014, the Buffalo Trace Distillery began construction on a new warehouse facility in the parking lot directly across the road from the 300 Fair Oaks Building.
The warehouse construction has resulted in additional congestion and eliminated the ability to access the 200 Building from Fair Oaks Lane. Access to the 200 Fair Oaks Building will be possible via Lewis Ferry Road. When leaving the 200 Fair Oaks Building, it is highly recommended that you use the new exit that has been constructed on the east side of the building and access Wilkinson Boulevard via the traffic light. Visitors to the 300 Fair Oaks Building will still turn at the BP service station on Fair Oaks Lane. Access to the 300 Building is unchanged. The construction on the warehouse and road repairs on Wilkerson Boulevard is expected to continue into the fall. Please be vigilant when traveling to our facilities during this time.
