Continuing Education Opportunity – GIS and Backflow Prevention

The Division of Compliance Assistance hasUntitled partnered with the Operator Training Committee of Ohio to bring operators hands-on training with Geographic Information System (GIS) and backflow prevention training. This will be the second time the training has been offered in Kentucky, and it’s great for those wishing to enhance GPS point application, GIS mapping, backflow and cross connection control and prevention.

Curtis Truss will guide operators on how to use, read and plot GIS data. Cecil McDonald will perform backflow tests and show how to determine whether your supply is safe from Untitled2backflow, back-siphonage and cross connections. This will be an opportunity to learn more about how to transform your paper or outdated maps into a 21st-century gem. The Operator Training Committee of Ohio has also helped several small systems go from paper to electronic mapping systems by providing expertise and tools to plot points, laterals, etc. This hands-on training, combined with great classroom instruction, will afford operators the opportunity to gain critical knowledge and experience that they can bring back and put to use in their system.

Certified drinking water and wastewater operators may attend this event for continuing education hours by registering through E-Search. If you have any questions, please call 800-926-8111.
